Rivo Recipes is a recipe website created by Emily Mitchell, designed to give busy families access to easy, family-friendly recipes made with simple ingredients.

Hey, I’m Emily!
I’m passionate about creating delicious recipes, sharing them with others, and one day becoming a cookbook author 🙂
My goal is to help you turn simple ingredients into next-level dishes that you’ll be proud to serve to friends and family. I also enjoy sharing pro tips and game-changing cooking techniques that elevate everyday meals to restaurant-quality, while still keeping things simple.
My Back Story
Since I graduated from university, I had just started dating my (now) husband, and I truly believed that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach! Unfortunately, I didn’t have many skills to offer in the kitchen. In fact, I had gotten used to enjoying chef-prepared meals back in my sorority days.
Like most people, I turned to online recipes for dinner ideas. But I often struggled to find recipes that tasted as good as the perfect photos made them look, or that were truly as “quick and easy” as they claimed.
So I started researching cooking methods and trying them out while still keeping things simple. I couldn’t believe how much difference a proper technique or even one simple ingredient could make. And honestly, I was surprised by how little clear guidance existed on many of the websites I found.
I began posting pictures of my recipes on Facebook (which I of course thought were amazing at the time… taken with my phone 😅). Let me tell you… they were not.
At the suggestion of a friend, I started a food blog in the fall of 2024. The domain name was almost as bad as the photos, and I quickly realized that while I was improving in the kitchen, my photography and business skills still needed a lot of work.
So I started learning everything I could about photography and blogging. After my regular 9–5 job, I would come home and spend my evenings testing recipes, practicing food photography, and learning how to grow a blog properly.
In January 2026, I decided it was time to follow my passion full-time and say goodbye to the corporate world I had known for years. Leaving a stable 9–5 job (with great benefits, I might add) while supporting a 2-year-old felt scary in the moment, but deep down I knew it was one of the best decisions I could make. And it truly was.
In May 2026, my husband Michael joined me full-time in the business. After that, my sister Jessica also joined the team. We feel so grateful and blessed to be able to share tried-and-true, fully tested recipes that help you feel confident in the kitchen.

Thank you so much for being here and supporting our family business 💛
Why You Can Trust Me
- I develop, test, and photograph all of my own recipes. Unlike many recipe sites, I do not outsource any part of the process.
- NO AI!!! – This site is completely run by me, a human. 😉 No AI photos, no AI recipes, no AI content.
- I value quality over quantity. This means that I don’t post a lot of recipes every week. I’ve noticed that many recipe sites seem to churn out recipes at a very rapid pace. I prefer to make sure that every recipe I share has been thoroughly tested and includes all the information you need to ensure success.
- Whether you’re a beginner in the kitchen or have years of experience, I’ve got your back.

My Goal at rivorecipes
Every time I prepare a recipe to feature on Rivo Recipes, I picture you. I picture busy working families, budget-conscious singles, and those of you who can barely make toast. I picture you standing in your kitchen, reading my instructions and following each step of my recipe.
I know you’re putting your trust in me. You’re spending money on ingredients, and investing time in the reading, preparation, and cooking process. (And let’s not forget — you’re hungry.)
- My goal is to make sure your time and money are never wasted when you prepare one of my recipes.
- I want to make your life easier by helping you create meals you’re proud of and excited to make again.
- I aim to provide more than just recipes — I want to explain the “whys” and “hows” behind each step, ingredient, and technique. (My pro tips are key!)
- I want you to walk away from my recipes feeling like a more confident and capable home cook.
